The Challenge

Western Sydney International is one of Australia’s largest government infrastructure projects: a brand-new brand with fixed trial-event deadlines. WSI needed merchandise that represented the brand flawlessly across six very different products and materials, with strict colour and brand compliance signed off across Marketing, Brand and Procurement. All of it produced offshore and freighted internationally, where a colour miss at bulk scale means thousands of wasted units on a program where sustainability was a stated priority.

What We Delivered

A six-category giveaway range, each item mocked up, sampled and produced to WSI's brand guidelines:

  • Cap: brushed cotton twill, 6-panel, embroidered
  • Tote: cotton canvas, widened gussets, screen printed
  • Water bottle: 650ml stainless steel, double-wall insulated, screen printed
  • Keep cup: 300ml double-wall, powder coat finish, screen printed
  • Compact umbrella: pongee, 8-rib auto-opening, fully sublimated
  • Phone card holder: soft-touch silicone, digital print

Produced at 20,000+ units in our audited offshore facilities, the range equipped WSI’s airport volunteer trials, supporting participants testing passenger journeys and airport readiness ahead of the official opening.

How We Did It:

We identified the opportunity and invested early.

We recognised WSI as a strategically important program and initiated the relationship in March 2025, a full year before any tender existed, presenting bespoke designs and taking the time to genuinely understand the brand. When the formal tender opened in March 2026, we were invited to participate and won on the strength of designs and service, something we had already demonstrated.

We held six materials to one brand standard.

Cotton twill, canvas, pongee, stainless steel and silicone all take colour differently, across embroidery, screen print and full sublimation. Achieving PMS-accurate colour on every substrate demanded precise colour management from design deck through to factory pre-production samples.

We treated approvals as waste prevention.

We ran additional sampling and PPS rounds before committing to bulk, managing the extended schedule openly with regular updates. This removed the biggest risk: thousands of off-brand units produced in error. Packaging was consolidated into inner cartons rather than individually bagged, cutting plastic and freight waste.

We coordinated across borders against fixed dates.

Overseas production, international freight and three client stakeholder groups, all managed against deadlines with proactive schedule communication throughout.

The Result

Branded merchandise in the hands of the people testing Sydney’s newest airport before its doors open, and a new government client on the books for Badge of Honour.

Our partnership continues to grow, with WSI seeking pricing for further ranges and exploring managed inventory services.
